Concert pianist Yu Mi Lee gives solo and orchestral concerts throughout the world, and her audiences and music critics constantly acclaim her sensitive and rousing performances that touch deeply.
Just a year after her arrival in Europe, she celebrated her official debut with a concert in Prague and many concert offers followed.
She has played with the Philharmonic Orchestra of Valencia in Spain and the Voronezh Philharmonic Orchestra in Russia, with the North Czech Philharmonic Orchestra and the Pilsen Philharmonic Orchestra in the Czech Republic, and the Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra of Wernigerode in Germany. All of her concerts were received with enthusiasm, and often celebrated with standing ovations. In addition, she has played for audiences in almost all European countries, and, repeatedly, in South Korea.
She was invited to perform in many prestigious venues, such as the Dvorak Hall and the Smetana Hall in the Czech Republic, the Berlin Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church in Germany, the Palau de la musica in Spain and Seoul Arts Center in Korea. In 2012, as a young representative of her home country, she was invited to perform at a gala concert of the Korea Music Association in Bonn. In 2015 she was invited as a Soloist at the Silver Anniversary Concert celebrating 25 years of diplomatic relations between Korea and Rumania. Invitations from the Association Alfred Cortot to Italy, and to other prestigious music festivals followed.
In 2005, after graduating from Seoul National University in South Korea, pianist Yu Mi Lee was admitted to study at the world-renowned Musikhochschule Hannover. There, in 2012, she performed her graduate recital with distinction.
During her studies in Hanover, Yu Mi Lee has successfully participated in international music competitions, again and again. She won 1st prize at the Berlin International Music Competition and the Alfred Cortot International Piano Competition in Italy, and 2nd prize at the Teresa Llacuna International Piano Competition in France. She was the winner of the Jose Iturbi International Piano Competition in Spain, and finalist of the world-prestigious Busoni International Competition in Bolzano, Italy.
In March 2017 she recorded her official Debut album which will be world-wide released in the end of this year. For 2017 numerous concerts are planned again in Germany and Switzerland.
Through her playing, Yu Mi Lee will continue to prove that she is a gifted pianist with excellent musical and technical qualities, an artist with high sensitivity and an exceptionally fine understanding of music.
